Fall is here, school is back in session and sports are on TV every weekend. Whether you’re getting together with friends and family for a football game, soccer game, or basketball (preseason is here!), I can pretty much guarantee that your food choices include chips and dip or cheese and crackers.
Don’t get me wrong, chips and dip are great; cheese is pretty much the reason I could never be vegan. But the same foods every weekend can get a little boring, not to mention being unhealthy.
What if you switched out your chips, crackers and cheese for some healthier options? The folks at Chobani are introducing new meze dips. They come in 4 different flavours and they’re all made with Greek yogurt, making them smooth and creamy. They’ve got roasted red pepper, three pepper salsa, chili lime and smoked onion and parmesan!
Instead of reaching for the bags of tortilla chips, pita chips and crackers, why don’t we go for something a little healthier? I like dipping with carrots, blanched broccoli, peppers, cucumber, tomatoes and apples. These options go great with your favourite dips and add a nice burst of colour to your table.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not telling you to completely eliminate any chips or crackers from your table. Maybe just have an extra plate or two of some fruits and veggies to add a little variety. After all, variety is the spice of life, right? 🙂
Speaking of spices, one of my other favourite healthy snacks are roasted chickpeas. I like to toss them with oil, ground coriander and cumin and throw them in the oven until they’re nice and roasted. SO. GOOD.
I’m always on the look out for more dipping options so if you have any favourites, send them my way!
Have fun and get dipping!
