Let's Bake Together

Pimm’s Cup

Yesterday was Independence Day here in the good ol’ USA. Being from England, I don’t celebrate this holiday the same way my friends do. While they were wearing the red, white & blue, watching fireworks and (probably) drinking beer, I was drinking this beauty.

A Pimm’s Cup is a traditional summertime drink in England. It’s literally the most refreshing, delicious drink in the entire world. It’s especially prevalent at Wimbledon, where you can see people enjoying the tennis, sipping on some Pimm’s and eating strawberries & cream. Just thinking about it makes me want to go back. This drink is really, really easy to make. Typically in England we make it with lemonade, which is different from the lemonade over here. The closest substitute is either Sprite or 7-Up. Other than that, all you need is Pimm’s, a variety of fruit, and mint. You have to have mint – it’s basically required 🙂

As far as fruit goes, I like to use any combination of oranges, cucumber, strawberries, kiwi, raspberries. Pretty much any fruit will work, although I wouldn’t recommend bananas – I think that would be weird. The best part of this drink? Eating all the alcohol infused fruit at the end. Takes the fruit to a whole other level! This particular recipe is for one glass full of Pimm’s Cup, but if you want to make a pitcher of it for more than one person to enjoy, I highly recommend it. Just use enough Pimm’s for the number of people who’ll be drinking it and top it off with the fruit and Sprite. I’ve got my friends, Mary and Taylor, on the Pimm’s train and they love it
