Let's Bake Together

Cinnamon Scones with Brown Butter Maple Glaze

Ok, I’ve made a lot of very autumnal treats over the last few weeks, but these cinnamon scones with brown butter maple glaze might be my favourite.

They’re so good that I gave them to my sister and her boyfriend (now fiancé!) and she texted me asking for the recipe almost immediately after eating them. If that isn’t good feedback, I don’t know what is.

These scones are actually the perfect fall treat. Loaded up with comforting cinnamon and then topped with the best brown butter maple glaze, I’ll be making and eating these all season long. For an extra hit of cinnamon, I used Runamok Maple’s Cinnamon and Vanilla infused maple syrup. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend it, but if not, regular maple syrup will be fine.

By now, you all know about my slight obsession with brown butter. It feels even more appropriate to use during the autumn months so it should be no surprise that it was incorporated into these scones. Brown butter everything! The brown butter pairs perfectly with the maple syrup. Don’t skip it!

We’re keeping it simple with the scone dough. It’s a pretty basic dough with some cinnamon thrown in for good measure. If your dough is dry, you’ll probably need to add a little more milk. That’s ok. We don’t want a soggy dough, but we don’t want any dry spots. Start with less and add more if you need it.

The scones are good, but the glaze is the real star of the show. Brown butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. That’s it! If you want to let the brown butter cool a little before adding the other ingredients you can, but it isn’t important to.

These scones are easy, delicious, and the perfect fall treat. Run to your kitchen and make these cinnamon scones with brown butter maple glaze ASAP!
