The Super Bowl is on Sunday, are you ready?
Whether you’ll be cheering for the Denver Broncos, Carolina Panthers or looking out for the cute commercial with the puppies and Clydesdales like me, I’m sure you’re looking forward to the food for your game day celebrations.
I’m here to help!
This cheesy garlic pull-apart bread is so, so easy to make. If you eat it warm, it’s ooey gooey cheesy with some subtle hints of garlic and is such a user friendly food to eat. You literally just pull it apart!
Most of the time required for this bread is hands-off while the bread rises, leaving you with plenty of time to trash talk, put face paint on or walk through your neighborhood sharing your love for your team.
It’s a win-win.
Notes
Adapted from King Arthur Flour
Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
For the Filling:
- 1 stick (1/4 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (I used white cheddar)
Instructions
- Put butter in a bowl and pour over the warm milk to melt it. Add sugar and salt then allow to cool slightly before adding the eggs, yeast and flour.
- Mix and knead your dough until it forms a smooth ball (I used my stand mixer, but you can mix this by hand).
- Place dough in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap and place in a warm place to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- While the dough is rising, mix the garlic and cheese into your softened butter and set aside until ready to use. Grease two loaf pans and set aside.
- Once dough has doubled in size, roll out to 1/2" thick. Use a cookie cutter to make circle shapes out of the dough.
- Put some of your butter mixture on one side of each circle and fold to form a semicircle. Place fold-side down in the loaf pans and repeat until each pan is full.
- Cover each loaf pan loosely with plastic wrap and set in a warm place to rise and get puffy, about 30-45 minutes.
- Heat oven to 350°F. Bake loaves for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown.
- Pull apart and enjoy!
