Stop what you’re doing, gather your ingredients, and make these brown butter chocolate chip snickerdoodles!
You all know I love a good snickerdoodle, and there are lots of variations here on the blog. These though, they might be my favourite.
There’s nothing not to like about these. We’ve got brown butter, chunks of chocolate, and some good old cinnamon sugar to roll our cookie dough in. Cinnamon and chocolate is an underused combination and I’m just here to tell you all to use it more.
Originally, I was just going to make brown butter snickerdoodles, but a little birdie suggested adding chocolate too and the rest was history!
Here’s the thing. Snickerdoodles themselves are a pretty perfect cookie, and it’s hard to improve upon perfection. But let’s be real, there’s nothing I love more than multiple variations of my favourite cookies. I mean, just look at how many different brown butter cookies, macarons, and now snickerdoodles I have.
Maybe we can’t improve upon perfection, but we sure can make sure we have more perfection than we know what to do with!
Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Snickerdoodles
Let’s get back to today’s cookies. Instead of softened butter, we’re browning our butter and adding all of it’s nutty goodness to our cookie dough. We’re also adding chocolate, lots of chocolate. I added chopped chocolate because that’s my preferred way to add chocolate to cookies, but you can definitely use chocolate chips if you’d prefer. I’d suggest mini chocolate chips, that way you can ensure maximum chocolate goodness in every bite!
The things we love most about a brown butter chocolate chip cookie – brown butter and lots of chocolate – are in our traditional snickerdoodle dough. Then we roll them in trusty cinnamon-sugar for that real snickerdoodle feel. Honestly, there might be no going back after these.
Game changer.
All you need in addition to your regular snickerdoodle ingredients is chocolate and if you’re like me, you always have plenty of that lying around your house.
So run, don’t walk to the kitchen to make these. I promise you’ll love them!
