You know what a really crappy year needs? A really fantastic holiday cookie box filled with festive treats. I’ve made cookie boxes before, but this year was the first time I’ve given them out to friends and family. 10/10 doing this again every year. There’s no holding back now. The Cookie Monster has been unleashed!

I may have gone a little overboard with my cookie baking this year…my freezer still has a plentiful supply of cookies. Anyone interested in a holiday cookie box?
As fun as it was to make all of these cookies, doing all of this 6 weeks after my 9th knee surgery was maybe not the smartest thing to do. We’ll keep this a secret from my surgeon. And one of my physical therapists. One batch of cookies probably would have been fine, but I was baking for two weekends straight and I have major knee regrets. Worth it though to bring a smile to some friends and family. We’ll talk about the knee another time though. Today is all about my holiday cookie boxes!

This year’s holiday cookie box featured cookies, macarons, and fudge. Unfortunately, I haven’t quite figured out how to mail macarons without them ending up destroyed by the time they got there, so the cookie boxes I mailed featured an extra cookie in place of the macarons. Game plan for the next holiday box is to get macarons outside of Portland in one piece. I’ve got a year to figure it out.

2020 Holiday Cookie Box
Let’s break down the cookies/macarons that made the cut this year.
We had:
– White chocolate peppermint cookies
– Brown butter coffee toffee cookies
– Crinkle cookies
– Ginger cookies
– Peppermint macarons
– Chocolate hazelnut macarons
– Peppermint fudge
– Double chocolate mint cookies (only in the boxes that were mailed)
There were a few other cookies in the running to be featured, but my instagram family voted for these. They have good taste!

I’m going to be honest, the fudge got packaged separately for the boxes with macarons because I ran out of room. But it was in very festive bags so that counts for something, right?
Happy holidays, friends! I hope the next two weeks are filled with cheer, family zoom calls, and lots and lots of cookies!
